Director, Secretary: Bishop Martin Amador
Bishop Martin T. Amador has served as a church leader since his youth years. He was born on October 25, 1948, in Hollister, California. He was baptized on January 17, 1965, and on October 25, 1965, received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. In July 1978, Bishop Amador was set aside for the ministry in San Jose, California. In July 1981, he was ordained as a minister in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Bishop Amador has been married to his wife, First Lady Connie, for fifty-three years. God has blessed them with four children, two son in-laws, one daughter in-law, two granddaughters and two grandsons. On January 1, 1971, Bishop Amador was drafted into the Army where he served as a non-combat medic in the U.S. and in Europe. On February 2, 1973, Bishop Amador was honorably discharged as an E-5.
Bishop Amador served under the pastorship of his father, the late Pastor Domingo Amador, and the late First Lady Alicia Amador. Pastor Domingo Amador pastored the Riverbank Apostolic Assembly Church and the First Modesto Apostolic Church for a total of twenty-five years. Under his father’s pastorship, Bishop Amador served as the church general treasurer, principal of the Christian School, co-pastor, and various other department leadership positions. When Pastor Domingo was called to rest with our Lord, Bishop Martin Amador was installed as the new pastor. Bishop Amador has pastored First Modesto Apostolic Church for thirty-eight years. The church has an English and Spanish Ministry. First Modesto Apostolic Church is part of the Northern Golden Valley District.
Bishop Amador has served as District Christian Education Director, Sector Elder for eight years, District Bible College Treasurer for eight years, District Bible College Director for eight years, District Treasurer for eight years and the Northern Golden Valley District Bishop for eight years.
Bishop Amador retired after twenty-seven years of public service with the City of Turlock as the Housing Program Services Division Manager. As division manager, his responsibilities included administering the City’s HUD CDBG funds, the City’s California Department HOME funds, the City’s Redevelopment funds and serving as the lead person for five cities and the County of Stanislaus in the administration of the State HOME funding. Responsibilities also included supervising the City’s housing loan process for the Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program and working with housing developers for the funding and development of affordable multifamily housing. Responsibilities included overseeing the Federal HUD CDBG and State HOME audits and making certain all program regulations were in compliance.
Bishop Amador’s educational background is as follows: Associate of Arts, Business and Accounting, Modesto Junior College; Associate of Arts, Theology, International Apostolic Bible College; Bachelor of Arts, Sociology, Stanislaus State University; Master of Arts, Public Administration, Stanislaus State University; Master in Christian Leadership, Nava Apostolic Biblical Seminary. Bishop Amador currently has a Real Estate license and has completed all required courses in order to take his state examination for his Real Estate Brokers license.
